What is the difference between apostille and embassy attestation?
An apostille is used for countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention, and once it is issued no embassy stamp is needed. Countries outside the Convention require embassy (consular) attestation after MEA attestation instead.
Are you a government office?
No. MEAservices.in is an independent private service provider. We prepare and submit documents to the competent authorities (state departments, the Ministry of External Affairs and embassies) on your behalf.
Which countries need embassy attestation instead of apostille?
Countries that are not parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, including the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt. Membership changes over time (Saudi Arabia and China joined recently), so we always check the current status.
Who issues the apostille in India?
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, after the document has been authenticated by the competent state authority or Chamber of Commerce. We are an independent service provider that handles this process for you.
Do I need to send my original documents?
Apostille and attestation are done on original documents. Share scanned copies first so we can confirm the route. Originals are then collected or couriered for processing.
Need apostille, embassy attestation or translation?
Send us your document details and destination. We will confirm the correct route, timeline and charges at no cost.
